About Tillandsia capitata peach
Tillandsia capitata peach is a form of Tillandsia capitata that blushes a soft peach colour at bloom. Most capitatas go red; this one goes apricot, and the photos show it.
The rosette is large and open, with soft grey-green leaves. It grows quite big, and it is prolific, so clumps form quickly.
Out of bloom the plant is a sage green. Colour is seasonal, so plants ship green for much of the year. When colour is available we ship with it, and buyers can ask for the green-sage form instead.
We grade it from 2-inch smalls to 10-inch XXL plants. Sale grades with leaf marks are available in most sizes at a discount.
Capitata peach is the gentle-colour option in the capitata range. It suits displays that want warmth without a hard red, and it tolerates high light and even direct sun in cooler climates.
Growing Tillandsia capitata peach: Care Guide
This form takes high, bright light and direct sun where temperatures stay under about 80°F. Like all capitatas it wants regular water and firm drying, and it grows biggest in a pot of bark. In hotter conditions, move it to bright shade in the afternoon, because the broad leaves scorch before a silver plant would. Feed it through spring and summer for the fastest growth, and let it dry back a little in autumn to trigger the peach blush.
- Light: Bright light with direct sun in cool weather. Shade it above 80°F.
- Water: Soak 20 minutes every 7 to 10 days.
- Drying: Invert and shake. Soft leaves hold water at the base.
- Airflow: Good airflow after each soak.
- Temperature: 45°F to 95°F. No frost.
- Feeding: Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer. Feeding supports the size.
- Mounting: Wire large plants to a solid mount, or pot in orchid bark.
- Pups: Two to four pups after bloom. Clumps form fast.
