About capillaris Pitch Fork

capillaris Pitch Fork is our value-tier capillaris listing, named for the forked way its young growth branches rather than for a documented, separately registered cultivar. Like our numbered capillaris ranges, it’s a different growing batch of the same species, given a working name instead of a number.

It ships either as a single plant 1-2 inches tall, or as a small clump of 3 or more, at our lowest capillaris price. That makes it the easiest entry point into this species for a buyer who wants volume over size.

Capillaris is a fine, wiry, grass-like clumper. Even a single small plant at this size will branch and multiply with basic care, so the low starting size isn’t a limitation for a buyer planning to grow it out.

It’s well suited to bulk bins, workshops, or any program where price per plant matters more than arriving with an established clump.

Because it’s the most affordable capillaris we carry, it also pairs naturally with our pricier numbered ranges as a low-cost complement on the same shelf.

Growing capillaris Pitch Fork: Care Guide

Run capillaris Pitch Fork on a standard xeric schedule. Soak it 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry.

  • Water: Soak 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry.
  • Light: High light with strong airflow.
  • Feeding: Diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer monthly helps single plants branch into a clump.
  • Mounting: Small enough for E-6000 Tillandsia Glue in bulk on cork.
  • Growth: Expect forked branching as it matures, giving the “Pitch Fork” name its shape.

Feed it TillyBoost Fertilizer on a regular cycle, browse more capillaris ranges in our Rare Air Plants category, or read the air plant care guide for soak-and-dry basics. Reference: Tillandsia.
