About the seashell Tillandsia hanger
The seashell Tillandsia hanger is a hand-knotted macramé net pouch on a cord. A maker produces it specifically for Davis Farms. The pouch closes around whatever you put in it, so it holds a plant on its own or a shell with a plant inside.
We offer four lengths, about 9, 12, 16 and 20 inches, and each comes in natural or white cord. Because they are hand made, the lengths are approximate and the knots vary a little.
The hanger works for a wide range of plants. It also lets you hang a larger shell that has no hole for a line, which is why we pair it with most of our shells.
Hangers weigh almost nothing, so they add nothing to shipping. Plants and shells are not included.
For a shop, this is the dollar upgrade that turns a plant into a hanging piece. Sell the plant, add the hanger, and the customer walks out with something to hang in a window. White cord suits a modern shop, while natural cord suits a coastal or boho look.
Using the seashell Tillandsia hanger with air plants
Open the net, set the plant or the shell inside, and let the pouch close around it. Then hang the cord from a hook or rod. For a shell, set the plant into the shell first, and glue it with a dab of E-6000 Tillandsia Glue if it sits loosely. To water, lift the plant out, soak it, shake it and let it dry before it returns. Alternatively, mist in place, because the open net drains at once. Hang it in bright indirect light, and choose the length by where it will hang. For example, a 9-inch hanger suits a small window, while a 20-inch one hangs from a ceiling hook.
- Fits: Small and medium plants, or a shell with a plant, for example bulbosa, caput-medusae, ionantha or stricta.
- Mounting: Set in the net. Glue the plant into a shell first if needed.
- Watering: Lift out to soak, or mist in place.
- Feeding: Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer in the soak.
- Placement: Hang in bright indirect light.
- Care of the hanger: Let it dry after misting. Cord lasts for years indoors.
