About ghost wood branches
Ghost wood branches are pale, sun-bleached natural branches, twisted and weathered to a silver-grey that looks like driftwood. They make a natural and stunning base for Tillandsias and other mounted plants.
Pieces are 12 inches and up. Every branch is different in shape and thickness, which is the point; each one becomes a one-of-a-kind display.
The pale colour is what sets ghost wood apart from darker mounts. Silver plants read as a single tone on it, and green or blushing plants stand out against it.

For a shop, one branch with three or four plants wired to it is a centrepiece that sells for many times the cost of its parts. The wood lasts for years indoors.
Using ghost wood branches with air plants
Wire plants to the branch rather than gluing them, so each can be lifted off to soak. Tillandsia Wire wrapped around the base of a plant and twisted behind the branch holds it firmly and invisibly. Space plants along the branch so air moves around each one, and put the heaviest plant near a fork where the wood is thickest. Mist the whole piece between soaks if it hangs in dry air. Weathered wood like this is dry and light, so it hangs from a single hook or lies on a table. Keep it out of standing water, and it will not rot.
- Fits: Three to six plants on a 12-inch branch; xerographica, harrisii, caput-medusae, ionantha clumps.
- Mounting: Wire, so plants come off for watering. Glue only small plants.
- Watering: Unwire and soak, or mist the whole piece weekly.
- Feeding: Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer during the soak.
- Placement: Hang or lay in bright indirect light.
- Care of the wood: Keep dry between waterings. No sealant needed.
