purpurea #8 is one of several numbered ranges we carry of Tillandsia purpurea. As with our other numbered purpurea listings, the number tracks a growing range rather than a distinct cultivar — the honest story is stock provenance, not a naming pedigree.
#8 grades from Small at 3-4 inches up through Large at 9-12 inches, with clumps carrying up to 3 or more pups. It’s priced at the top of our purpurea lineup, reflecting the larger top-end size and the multi-pup clump structure.
As with any field-grown fragrant species at this scale, some individual plants in this range may show minor leaf damage or algae on older growth near the base. That’s cosmetic and doesn’t affect the plant’s health or its signature scent at bloom.
Purpurea’s fragrance is a real draw for retail customers who shop by scent as much as appearance, and #8’s larger Large grade gives a shop a genuine specimen-scale option within the purpurea range.
