Description
About purpurea #16
purpurea #16 is one of several numbered ranges we carry of Tillandsia purpurea. So, like our other numbered purpurea stock, the number tracks a growing range rather than a distinct named form.
#16 grades from Small at 4-5 inches, through Medium at 6 inches, up to Large at 7-9 inches. Clumps carry up to 3 or more pups. Its size run lands close to #12. However, it’s priced well below it, which makes #16 the best value in our current purpurea lineup.
Some individual plants in this range may show minor leaf damage or algae on older basal growth. That’s standard for field-grown stock at this scale, and it’s purely cosmetic.
Because it delivers purpurea’s full fragrance at a lower price point, #16 also works well as a volume option. In fact, it’s a natural way for a shop to introduce customers to the species without committing to our premium-priced numbers.
Finally, it’s a natural entry point alongside our other purpurea ranges, since it lets a buyer trade up in size and price as demand for the species grows.
