purpurea #11 is one of several numbered ranges we carry of Tillandsia purpurea. Like our other numbered purpurea stock, the number tracks a growing range, not a distinct named form — we’d rather be plain about that than dress up a batch number as a pedigree.
What sets #11 apart in practice is where its size grades start. Small here runs 7 inches and up, already larger than the Small grade on several of our other purpurea numbers, moving through Medium at 9-10 inches to Large at 11-12 inches. Clumps carry up to 3 or more pups.
Because this range runs larger across the board, it suits a buyer who wants a fuller-looking plant even at the entry grade, without stepping up to our premium-priced ranges.
As with field-grown purpurea generally, some individual plants may show minor leaf damage or algae on older basal growth. It’s cosmetic only and doesn’t affect the plant’s fragrance or health.
