This is a wonderful example of a pseudobaileyi hybrid. We started growing this plant about nine years ago, and we honestly don’t know its exact parentage beyond the pseudobaileyi side. It’s a genuinely beautiful plant regardless.

We also carry ‘Long John’, a documented pseudobaileyi x intermedia hybrid with known parentage, elsewhere in our catalog. This plant is different: we’re being upfront that we can’t confirm its second parent after nine years of growing it. What we can say is that it shares pseudobaileyi’s general growth character while showing its own distinct traits from whatever it was crossed with.
Nine years is a long time to grow out a single hybrid line, and that patience shows in the maturity and form of the plants we’re now able to offer. We’d rather sell it honestly as an unidentified cross than invent a parentage story we can’t back up.
Its compact, clumping habit makes it a good candidate for mounted displays where a tighter growth form is an advantage. Buyers looking for something a bit different from the standard species-only offerings will find this hybrid a good conversation piece for the sales floor.
Growing pseudobaileyi hybrid: Care Guide
Water it the way you would our other pseudobaileyi-type plants: soak for 5 to 10 days, then invert fully so water drains out completely. Give it bright, indirect light for steady growth.
