About the duratii straminea hybrid
This duratii straminea hybrid crosses two of our favorite species: Tillandsia duratii and Tillandsia straminea. It’s spectacular, and it’s genuinely rare in cultivation.
The plants we’re offering run about 33 inches. They show traits from both parents in the leaf and growth habit.
One of the best things about this cross is the flower. It carries a wonderfully fragrant bloom, a trait both parent species are known for on their own.
So few of these have ever been produced that this cross rarely reaches the wholesale market at all. Most collections that have one grew it from a single original plant.
A fragrant, large-format hybrid like this makes a strong specimen centerpiece for a shop’s premium display bench.
Both duratii and straminea are already established favorites in our own catalog. So buyers familiar with either parent already have a good sense of the cross, just scaled up and more fragrant.
This cross is so uncommon that we can’t offer the size grading we do on higher-volume plants. Each specimen we release is essentially one of a kind.
