About the Tillandsia display frame kit
The Tillandsia display frame kit is a magnetic frame system for showing air plants on a wall or a table. Each frame has a metallic backing, so a magnet sticks to it. The plant then sits in a mounting ring on that magnet. As a result, you can lift it off for watering and put it back in seconds.
We offer two sizes, and both come in packs of ten. The small single-panel frame measures about 10.75 by 10.75 inches and stands on a table. The large four-panel frame measures about 9 by 20 inches. It also comes with a table stand and wall hooks.
Every kit contains the frame, a Tillandsia mounting ring, a magnet, double-sided tape and a hot glue stick. Optional fabric inserts for the background come too. It is a kit, so it needs assembly, and you will also need your own hot glue gun.
For a shop the frames solve the hardest part of selling air plants as decor. Simply put, they give the customer a finished object. A framed plant makes a gift, and the magnet keeps the care routine simple enough to explain in one sentence.
Ten frames at $8 each become ten finished pieces with a plant of your choice in each. Likewise, the four-panel version holds a small collection in one frame.
Using the Tillandsia display frame with air plants
First, assemble the frame and fit the fabric insert if you want a coloured background. Then hot-glue the magnet to the back of the mounting ring. Set a plant in the ring, or fix it with a dab of E-6000 Tillandsia Glue. The magnet then holds the ring to the metal backing. Never water the plant in the frame. Instead, lift the ring off, soak the plant, shake it, let it dry completely and put it back. Choose plants that sit well in a ring and read from the front. For example, try a medium ionantha, a small caput-medusae, a harrisii or a stricta. Finally, hang the frame in bright, indirect light and away from a heater.
- Fits: One plant per ring, for example ionantha, stricta, harrisii or small caput-medusae. The four-panel frame holds four.
- Mounting: Plant in the ring, then ring on the magnet, then magnet on the metal backing.
- Watering: Lift the ring off to soak, and replace it only when dry.
- Feeding: Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer during the soak.
- Placement: Bright indirect light, but not above a radiator.
- Assembly: You need a hot glue gun, which we do not include.
