About the pandan pot
The pandan pot is a small basket pot woven by hand from the dried leaves of the pandan plant. The weave gives it a warm, organic texture, and the pale straw colour sets off green and silver plants equally well.
Because artisans weave each one, every pot carries its own slight variation in shape and colour. That is normal for a handmade piece, and it is part of why customers like them.
At a dollar a pot, it is one of the least expensive finished displays we sell. In addition, it weighs almost nothing, so it adds little to the shipping cost of an order.
Woven pots suit a natural or boho look. For example, a row of pandan pots with an ionantha in each makes a soft, textured shelf display that plastic or ceramic cannot copy.
For a shop, the pandan pot is an easy add-on sale beside the plant. It also works for gift packaging, because a plant in a woven pot looks finished without any wrapping.
Using the pandan pot with air plants
Set a small plant straight into the pot, and it will sit on the woven base. The weave is open, so air moves around the plant and the base dries after watering. Even so, lift the plant out to soak it, and then let it dry before it goes back. Dried pandan will darken and weaken if it stays wet, so keep the pot itself dry. A dab of E-6000 Tillandsia Glue on the base will hold a plant that tends to tip. Keep the pot in bright indirect light and away from a sunny sill, because strong sun will fade the leaf.
- Fits: One small plant, for example ionantha, scaposa, small stricta or a young harrisii.
- Mounting: Set in loose, or glue at the base.
- Watering: Lift the plant out to soak. Keep the pot dry.
- Feeding: Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer in the soak.
- Placement: Bright indirect light, out of strong sun.
- Care of the pot: Dust it. Do not soak it.
