capillaris Type 7 is one of several numbered stock ranges we carry of Tillandsia capillaris, a small, wiry, clumping air plant. The “Type” numbers on our capillaris listings mark different growing batches and source ranges, not separately named cultivars — we’re telling you that plainly rather than inventing a backstory for each number.
What sets Type 7 apart in practice is what actually ships: plants run about an inch tall but arrive already carrying multiple pups attached, so a buyer gets a head start on a clump rather than a lone seedling. That’s the reason it sits at the top of our capillaris price range.
Capillaris as a species is a dense, grass-like clumper. Left alone, a single plant multiplies into a tight mat over a season or two; Type 7 stock is simply further along that path than our entry-level batches when it leaves the nursery.
