About the Halloween ceramic pots

Our Halloween ceramic pots are seasonal air plant pots made specifically for Davis Farms. They come as a black skull, a white skull, a white-and-black matte skull and an orange pumpkin. They are sold in 6-packs at $9.

Each pot is about 2 to 2.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches across. Because they are hand painted, minor imperfections are normal and not every pot is exactly alike.

Plants that pair well include scaposa large, streptophylla mini, ionantha medium and large, ionantha vanhyningii, tricolor, bulbosa, small caput-medusae, brachycaulos small and harrisii small, among many options. A caput-medusae or bulbosa in a skull looks like hair, and that is the piece that sells.

Large orders ship by UPS or FedEx Ground and may carry an additional shipping charge, which we bill separately.

For a shop these are a seasonal impulse line with a short window and a high sell-through. Order early enough to have finished pieces on the counter by the start of October. They do not restock mid-season.

Using the Halloween ceramic pots with air plants

Set a plant with a slim base into the opening at the top of the skull or pumpkin so the leaves spill out, and choose a plant with movement for the best effect: bulbosa, caput-medusae or streptophylla for tentacles, ionantha for a tuft. The pots have no drainage, so lift the plant out to soak, shake it, dry it and replace it. A dab of E-6000 Tillandsia Glue inside the rim holds a top-heavy plant. Glazed ceramic does not breathe, so do not leave a wet plant in the pot. Keep the display in bright indirect light and out of a heated shop window.

  • Fits: Plants with a base under about 1.25 inches: ionantha, bulbosa, small caput-medusae, streptophylla mini.
  • Mounting: Set in loose. Glue only if the plant leans.
  • Watering: Remove the plant to soak. Return it dry.
  • Feeding: Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer during the soak.
  • Placement: Bright indirect light on the counter.
  • Care of the pot: Wipe dry. Hand painted; do not scrub.
