Tillandsia ‘Sweet Isabel’ is a hybrid between Tillandsia tectorum and Tillandsia paleacea, two of the most trichome-dense species in the genus. It inherits a coat of fine white-silver fuzz from both parents, though noticeably less dense than pure tectorum’s snowball look.
The habit is compact and clumping. Small stock runs 2-3 inches tall, while Medium reaches 4 inches and up, with the plant offsetting readily as it matures into a mounded cluster rather than a single rosette.
At bloom, a roughly 6-inch scape rises above the foliage carrying purple flowers, a contrast that reads clearly against the silver leaves.
Because both parent species come from dry, high-light habitats, Sweet Isabel is a genuinely undemanding plant once established. It’s a fast grower by silver-hybrid standards, which helps it fill out display space quickly.
