About Tillandsia reichenbachii
Tillandsia reichenbachii is a fragrant species from Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina. It is a close relative of duratii, and the flowers carry a similar sweet perfume. The scent is strong enough to fill a small shop.
Unlike duratii, it stays compact. Singles run 3 to 8 inches wide. The leaves are stiffer and less curly than duratii, so the plant holds a firmer, more upright shape.
Flowers are lavender to pale violet, and they open a few at a time over several weeks. Because of that long bloom window, the fragrance lasts.

Growing Tillandsia reichenbachii: Care Guide
It grows in dry Chaco woodland, so treat it as a xeric plant with high light needs.
- Light: Bright light with direct sun for part of the day. Light triggers bloom and scent.
- Water: Soak 20 minutes every 10 to 14 days.
- Drying: Invert and shake. Leaf bases overlap and can hold water.
- Airflow: Good airflow after soaking.
- Temperature: 40°F to 95°F. It tolerates cool winters.
- Feeding: Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer at quarter strength.
- Mounting: Wire it loosely. Over time the stem lengthens and the plant grows outward.
- Pups: Pups along the stem after bloom. Clumps form naturally if left alone.
