About Tillandsia malyi
Tillandsia malyi belongs to the tectorum complex, the same group of dense, silver-scaled species that includes our tectorum Ecuador and Peru forms. It’s extremely rare in cultivation, and we’re only releasing a select few plants this year.
Like its tectorum relatives, malyi carries a heavy coat of white trichomes that traps humidity around the leaf, giving the whole plant a soft, felted look rather than a sleek, glossy one.
Because so few growers work with this species, most of what reaches the trade comes from small, controlled releases like this one rather than steady annual production.
Stock ships as a single plant per order while we manage the limited quantity we have available this season.
A genuinely rare tectorum-complex species like malyi gives a specialty shop something to offer collectors who already grow the more common tectorum forms and want the next step up.

Growing Tillandsia malyi: Care Guide
