About Tillandsia Linda Sue
Tillandsia Linda Sue was one of the very first hybrids we made here at Davis Farms. It holds a special place in our history. We registered it as our very first hybrid with the Bromeliad Cultivar Registry. The cross is zacapanensis x streptophylla.
We hadn’t listed Linda Sue for sale before. We’re only offering it now, in very limited numbers, as mature plants become available.
Mature specimens reach 6-7 inches wide or more. They carry the curly, twisting leaf form that streptophylla passes to most of its hybrid offspring.
This is a formally registered cultivar, not an unnamed cross. So buyers get documented parentage and a name that stays consistent as it moves through the trade.
A first hybrid with a registry record like this is a genuine piece of our own breeding history, not just another pretty cross.
Linda Sue also marks an early point in how we approach hybridizing today. It helped shape the breeding decisions behind the newer named hybrids we release now.
Growing Tillandsia Linda Sue: Care Guide
Run it xeric, matching both bulbous, silver-leaved parents. Soak 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry.
- Water: Soak 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry so the bulb drains completely.
- Light: High light with strong airflow.
- Feeding: Diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer monthly.
- Form: Curly, twisting leaves inherited from the streptophylla side of the cross.
- Availability: A first-time release in very limited numbers; registered with the Bromeliad Cultivar Registry.
