About stricta Pink Star

Pink Star is a named form of Tillandsia stricta, selected and sold in the trade primarily for its bloom rather than any documented difference in foliage. We haven’t found an independent source describing this form’s leaves as distinct from a standard stricta, so we’re not inventing a leaf story to fill space.

What is consistently described, and what our own stock shows, is an especially vivid, saturated pink inflorescence, brighter than the bloom on most stricta forms we carry.

The rosette itself grows in stricta’s typical tidy, symmetrical form, reaching 4-6 inches wide at the size we currently offer.

Because the bloom is the whole point of this listing, it works best merchandised near flowering time, when the pink spike is visible or close to opening, rather than as an off-season foliage plant.

As with the rest of the species, it’s an easy, forgiving grower, so the bloom draw comes with none of the fussiness a showier species might demand. That makes Pink Star a low-risk way to add a seasonal color hook to a shelf built mostly around foliage plants.

Growing stricta Pink Star: Care Guide

Run it mesic, standard for the species. Soak 5-10 days, then invert and shake dry.

  • Water: Soak 5-10 days, then invert and shake dry.
  • Light: Bright indirect light; more light tends to intensify bloom color.
  • Feeding: Diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer monthly.
  • Bloom: A vividly saturated pink spike, the main draw of this form.
  • Merchandising: Sells best displayed near or during its bloom window.

Feed it TillyBoost Fertilizer on a regular cycle, browse more stricta forms in our Air Plants – Tillandsias category, or check the air plant care guide for the basics.
