purpurea #12 is one of several numbered ranges we carry of Tillandsia purpurea. As with our other numbered purpurea listings, the number identifies a growing range, not a distinct cultivar — plain provenance, not an invented pedigree.
#12 grades from Small at 4-5 inches through Medium at 6 inches and up to Large at 8 inches, with clumps carrying up to 3 or more pups. It’s a more compact range top-to-bottom than some of our larger purpurea numbers, but it carries the highest price point in our current purpurea lineup.
Some individual plants in this range may show minor leaf damage or algae on older basal growth, standard for field-grown stock at this scale. It’s cosmetic only.
Purpurea’s fragrance shows up regardless of size grade, so even #12’s smaller top-end Large still delivers the scent that draws customers to this species in the first place.
It suits a shop that wants a compact, tidy-sized purpurea option to round out a display built around the larger-grading numbers.
