About Tillandsia Pueblensis
Tillandsia pueblensis is native to the highlands of Puebla and Oaxaca in southern Mexico. It grows as a rock-dwelling, or saxicolous, species at around 1,650 meters elevation. Its densely arranged leaves carry a heavy gray, powdery coating of scales. That coating reflects sunlight and helps the plant cope with the intense, dry mountain conditions of its native habitat.
Inner leaves can reach up to about 16 cm and often curve backward, giving the rosette a tousled, textured look rather than a tight, symmetrical form. When it flowers, the plant sends up a simple spike with bright rose-colored bracts and violet petals, a striking contrast against the silvery foliage that collectors specifically look for.
