Description
About neglecta Purple Form
Tillandsia neglecta is a genuine miniature species native to Brazil, already in our catalog as a standard green-leaved plant. Purple Form is a color selection of that same species, pigmented with the plum-to-violet anthocyanin tone that some rupicolous Brazilian Tillandsias develop under strong light.
That coloring intensifies as the plant matures and approaches bloom, so a young plant may show only a hint of purple while an older one carries the color across most of its leaves.
Our current stock ships at 3 inches and up, matching the compact scale the species is known for.
Because neglecta is naturally a rock-dwelling species adapted to intense sun exposure, this purple form is a direct visual record of the same high-light conditions that make it thrive, rather than a stress response to avoid.
Its small size and strong color make it a natural fit alongside our other miniature and color-form Tillandsias for a collector-focused display. It also mounts easily among other rupicolous species without crowding a display, since it stays compact for years.
