Description
The Tillandsia ‘Redy’ is a popular hybrid air plant, known for its dynamic form and vibrant coloration.
Parentage and Origin: It is a hybrid cross between Tillandsia streptophylla and Tillandsia concolor. It was created by Dr. Mark Dimmitt.
Appearance and Traits:
Form: It forms an elegant, sculptural rosette of leaves. It typically has a bulbous base, inheriting the characteristic curling leaves of T. streptophylla, but with a slightly more rigid texture due to the T. concolor influence. The leaves often form a circular, windmill pattern.
Coloration: The foliage is typically a soft green but takes on beautiful red hues when exposed to bright light, making it a captivating, color-changing plant.
Bloom: It produces an impressive, colorful, and long-lasting inflorescence (flower stalk). The stalk will be red at the base, changing to green towards the top, and will produce tubular, violet flowers.
