Tillandsia White Star is our own ixioides x recurvifolia cross, made here at Davis Farms in 2019. This is the standard, year-round listing for the cross; we also carry a separate seasonal listing for when plants are actively in bloom.
About White Star Davis Farms
We’re releasing plants and clumps from that original 2019 cross as they mature enough to sell. Several growers work with White Star hybrids, but our clone stands out for a longer inflorescence than other White Star clones we’ve seen in the trade. The silver, thin-leaved foliage traces back to ixioides, while recurvifolia contributes the fuller rosette shape and the orange-bracted bloom.
Stock ships as both individual plants and small clumps, so buyers can pick single specimens or a fuller display piece from the same release. Because this is a limited first release of our own cross, quantities are tighter than on our long-established species lines, and sizes vary more from plant to plant than a mature, standardized line.
Growing White Star Davis Farms: Care Guide
Run it mesic, between the drier ixioides side and the more humidity-tolerant recurvifolia side of its parentage. Soak for 5 to 10 days, then invert so water drains fully. Give it bright, indirect light to bring out the silver foliage tone without scorching the thinner ixioides-type leaves.
