About capillaris Type 4 clumps

capillaris Type 4 is one of several numbered stock ranges we carry of Tillandsia capillaris. So, the number identifies a growing batch and source range, the same as our other numbered capillaris listings. It’s not a distinct named form, just a different range of the same easy clumping species.

Type 4 is our value option. Clumps run 2-3 or 4-5 plants depending on what’s currently on hand, and it’s priced well under our other capillaris ranges. In short, it’s built for volume, not presentation size.

Capillaris is a wiry, grass-like species that clumps on its own with basic care. Because of that, it’s an easy way to fill out a bin display, stock a teaching program, or offer an impulse-buy price point next to pricier specimen plants.

Since the clump size varies a little batch to batch, buyers ordering at volume should expect some natural variation rather than a fixed count.

Still, it rewards basic care and multiplies further once it settles into a new display. So the low buy-in price doesn’t mean a lesser plant, just a smaller starting clump.

Growing capillaris Type 4: Care Guide

Run this clump on a standard xeric schedule, the same as our other capillaris stock. Soak it 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry.

  • Water: Soak 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry.
  • Light: High light with strong airflow.
  • Feeding: Diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer monthly speeds clumping.
  • Mounting: Works well in bulk on cork with E-6000 Tillandsia Glue.
  • Sizing: Clumps run 2-3 or 4-5 plants; expect some batch variation at this price.

Feed it TillyBoost Fertilizer on a regular cycle, browse more value-priced clumpers in our Rare Air Plants category, or read the air plant care guide for soak-and-dry basics. Reference: Tillandsia.
