Description
This hybrid crosses botterii with caput-medusae, and it was grown from seed exclusively for Davis Farms. It’s a soft-leaved hybrid that prefers high, bright light for the best growth.
About botterii caput-medusae
Caput-medusae is already a familiar name in our catalog, known for its snaking, silver tendrils and its tolerance for high light. Crossing it with botterii softens the overall leaf texture while keeping that same light-loving character, giving buyers a plant with a gentler feel but the same easy-care reputation.
Because we grew this cross from seed specifically for our own catalog, it isn’t a plant you’ll find offered elsewhere under this exact parentage. That exclusivity makes it a good talking point for a shop that wants something genuinely unique on its collector shelf. We’ll keep growing more from this same seed batch as it matures, but for now supply stays limited to what this first release produced. A softer-leaved caput-medusae type also opens the plant up to buyers who love the silhouette but find the straight species’ texture a little too coarse for their taste.
Growing botterii caput-medusae: Care Guide
Give it bright light, the same way you would caput-medusae, since this hybrid inherited that preference directly. Soak for 10 to 14 days, then invert and shake out the base thoroughly so no water sits trapped.
Feed monthly with diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer. Mount it somewhere the base can drain completely; see our Air Plant Displays for options. For general care guidance, visit our Air Plant Care page. Learn more about the caput-medusae parent at Tillandsia caput-medusae on Wikipedia.
