Description

Named after the shaggy character from The Addams Family, Tillandsia stricta ‘Cousin It’ is a unique and sought-after cultivar of the common T. stricta. While the standard species is known for upright, stiff rosettes, ‘Cousin It’ is prized for its wildly different growth habit.

Key Characteristics
Appearance: This cultivar features a dense, spherical growth pattern. Its long, thin leaves recurve (curl downward and inward) as the plant matures, eventually hiding the base and forming a shaggy “ball” of foliage.

Size: It is a relatively large variety for a stricta, with mature specimens often reaching 15–23 cm (6–9 inches) in diameter.

The Bloom: Despite its messy “hair,” it produces a very elegant bloom. It features a large, bright pink bract that sprouts small, tubular purple or blue flowers. The bloom is often larger and more robust than those of the standard stricta.

Texture: The leaves are typically soft to the touch compared to “stiff-leaf” air plants, often appearing in a lush, light green or silvery-green hue.

*Please note, these are old specimen plants. There may be some old leaved underneath that are dead or dried. The plant is perfectly healthy, you can remove these leaves if desired.*
