Description
Tillandsia streptophylla Belize × caput-medusae is a striking hybrid air plant that combines the sculptural, curly form of Tillandsia streptophylla with the twisting, tentacle-like leaves of Tillandsia caput-medusae. Each plant is offered at 6″+ and, because this is a hybrid, every specimen has a slightly unique shape.
It typically forms a bulbous base with gracefully curling, silvery-green leaves that become more pronounced depending on humidity and watering. In drier conditions the foliage curls tighter, while higher humidity encourages a looser, more open shape. The streptophylla influence gives it an elegant, wavy appearance, while caput-medusae contributes a more dramatic, Medusa-like growth habit.
When mature, this hybrid may blush with pink or reddish tones before blooming and can produce a colorful inflorescence with tubular purple flowers, making it a favorite among collectors and a standout in retail displays.
As an epiphytic Tillandsia, it does not require soil. Provide bright, indirect light, regular misting or soaking depending on your environment, and strong air circulation. Allow the plant to dry well between waterings to keep it healthy and long lasting.
