About the kautskyi hybrid green clone

This kautskyi hybrid green clone came from an unintentional cross in our own growing area. We believe it’s Tillandsia kautskyi x roseiflora, since both were blooming at the same time.

We’re honest about the uncertainty: we didn’t make this cross on purpose, and we can’t say with full certainty which flower pollinated which.

This clone runs green rather than silver, and it stays small, at approximately 3 inches tall.

Both parent species are tiny, rupicolous Brazilian Tillandsias, so this hybrid keeps that same miniature, rock-dwelling character.

An unintentional hybrid like this is a genuine one-off from our own collection, not a mass-produced cross; once this batch sells, it may not come around again.

We’re offering both the green and silver clones from this same accidental cross, so collectors can decide which color form fits their own display better.

Because the cross wasn’t deliberate, we can’t say how consistently this look will reproduce; each clone we’re offering is essentially a fixed, individual specimen rather than a repeatable line.

Growing the kautskyi hybrid green clone: Care Guide

Run it xeric, matching both tiny, rock-dwelling parent species. Soak 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry.

  • Water: Soak 10-14 days, then invert and shake dry; this miniature dries fast.
  • Light: High light with strong airflow.
  • Feeding: Diluted TillyBoost Fertilizer monthly, at a lighter dose given its small size.
  • Color: Green form, distinct from the silver clone we also carry from the same cross.
  • Availability: A one-off, unintentional hybrid; quantities are genuinely limited.

Feed it TillyBoost Fertilizer on a regular cycle, compare it with our silver clone from the same cross, or check the air plant care guide for xeric basics.
