Description

Tillandsia aeranthos ‘Miniata’ is a compact, red-flowering form of the classic South American aeranthos, and it is one of the best air plants there is for building up a full hanging clump. Each rosette stays small and stiff, with narrow, silvery green leaves arranged in a tight spiral. The plant offsets freely, and over time those pups pile onto one another until the whole basket becomes a solid dome of foliage. In spring it puts on a show, sending up short spikes of vermilion-red bracts with deep violet-blue petals.

This is a mature, greenhouse-grown specimen clump in a 10″ black wire hanging basket, ready to hang the day it arrives. The plant in the picture is the plant you will receive – approximately 10″ across. The hanging basket is included.

Care: Give it bright light with some filtered sun. Water by soaking or thoroughly drenching 1 to 2 times per week, more often in hot, dry weather. Always shake out the excess water and let the plant dry with good air movement. A light bromeliad fertilizer during the growing season keeps it looking its best.
